Scottish Connection was formed by Elspeth Mackay and Hannah Craib in October 2006, and gave its debut recital in St Bride’s Church, Glasgow in December 2006. The group was formed to reunite some of Scotland’s leading young professional string players who are currently studying at, or have recently graduated from the top music conservatoires in the UK. Today there are representatives from the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, the Royal Academy of Music, the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Scottish Connection gave recitals in Glasgow Cathedral in April and December 2007. Their 2008 season includes recitals at Haddo House and Paxton House Festivals, as well as a recital in the Glasgow Cathedral Summer Music Series.
